How I updated Studio MINE to be more intuitive for interior designers who just started to use it.
THE BACKGROUND
MINE provides Furniture and Home Furnishings Manufacturing.
Studio MINE is a holistic website tool made for interior designers to work for clients who need to furnish their homes.
MINE has been experiencing remarkable growth with the number of interior designers who use Studio MINE. Design projects require complex processes, and those are not only designing rooms but also “client facing jobs” (ex, create invoices for clients) and “MINE facing jobs” (ex, submit orders to MINE).
It is essential for users who started to use Studio MINE to quickly become knowledgeable about handling projects in Studio MINE.
THE PROBLEM
Problem for external designers:
“I have so many tasks to do while working on a project, and Studio MINE has multiple pages for a project. How do I quickly know where to do my tasks?”
Create a project
Use moodboard to design a room
Find products
Share shopping cart
Share design
Order products
Create invoices
As design projects involve many tasks to do, one project has many pages and contents to cover all necessary actions.
From start to finish, it is a very complex flow that interior designers have to master. It’s best if we could explain the process to each user, but in reality they need to become experts of Studio MINE ASAP, as they share the tool with clients.
To achieve this, I needed to provide more intuitive UI.
THE SOLUTIONS
What I designed was to add a side navigation bar for all project pages. The nav reflects the workflow of a project.  For example, after finishing design tasks users will go to the next tab to order products or create an invoice. I moved the contents under each tab, and now it is intuitive for users to do target actions.
Flow of design project
INFO TAB - The tab on top is Info, where we show general info about the project.
DESIGN TAB - Design is the core process of a project, where designers can create projects, design rooms with moodboard, and add products for rooms.
ORDER TAB - This is the next process after design is complete. Interior designers will submit orders to MINE.
FOR CLIENTS TAB - This is for “client-facing” jobs, such as sharing design/ shopping cart, and creating invoices.
THE OUTCOMES
From an influencer who is using Studio Mine for shoppable designs
“Training session today went well. My assistant understood the platform quickly and said it is WAY better than using LTK (you have to use the app, canva and the website to create a design, once it's designed things may be out of stock then the process starts again, it is very tedious), that the Perigold partnership isn't as interactive (no moodboard options) and that Amazon is not high end enough for our audience. She thinks Stidio MINE will be the perfect solution.“
