Frequently Asked Questions
Why does design matter to me?
I admire the words of wisdom “God is in the details” by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. When I find something very simple and yet tells me a lot of story behind it, that’s when my heart dances. Those works don’t need any words, and just convince us that it takes experience, effort, and love for designers to make them. The world is full of those beautiful designs, and as a UX designer it’s my lifework to dedicate myself to design something for the world to be even better.
What’s my journey into UX design?
After 12 years of my career as a QA engineer, I made a decision to pursue what I really wanted, and started my journey with the biggest passion I’ve ever had. It's true that UX design requires a different mindset from QA, and now I’m confident that my QA experience of solving problems from users’ standpoint is my superpower. This is what makes me 100% a “user-centered” designer”.
What’s the value of working with me?
My global footprint: I was born in the East and live in the West. When I came to the US with one big suitcase and huge passion, my childhood dream came true to experience the world outside of my country. Since then my motto is to be “adaptable” to any possible situations. Things true in one place are not the same in other places. The multiple culture experiences help me build empathy and understand different needs in different contexts.
What’s my design approach?
Collaboration: As a former QA engineer I take that design is just one part of the cohesive product life cycle, and the collaboration with all team members is a key to a successful deployment. I take special care to set up frequent checkpoints to communicate with stakeholders to make sure everyone is on the same page.
“Simple design with great details”: I thrive on simple design while I care about all possible scenarios users will bring when accessing our products. My previous QA job required laser focus on how customers are going to interact with a product, and those experiences enabled me to achieve both simplicity and attentiveness to detail in my design.
